The Camera - history and information

1. Explain the “camera obscura” effect. How is it achieved?
the camera obscure effect is a optical effect discovered by geek and chinese philosophers
The hole acts like a lens, focusing and projecting light onto the wall of the dark chamber.

2. What invention during the 17th Century helped man get a step closer to creating the modern camera?
during the 17th century,Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens perfected the understanding of the optics and the process of making high quality glass lenses

3. What were the parts of the first modern camera invented by Niepce?
the parts of the first modern camera were glass lenses, a dark box and film.

4.What do modern digital cameras have in common with Niepce’s camera?
digital cameras work at the same way as their ancestors; light passes through the lens, into the camera, and exposes the film.

5. What do digital cameras use to capture an image?
digital cameras use digital film to capture an image. It is a electronic sensor called a CDD.

6. What is the difference between the Auto Mode and the Program mode?
in the auto mode the camera will completely control flash and exposure .
In the program mode automatic assist, just point  and shoot. you can control flash and a few other settings.

7. What is the Portrait mode used for? How does it work?
the portrait mode is use to attempt to blur out the background, camera will try to use the fastest available lens settings.

8. What is the Sports mode used for? (not just sports) How does it work
the sports mode is used to freeze motion, camera will use the highest shutter speed possible.

9. Why should you do a half press on the trigger button?
you should do a a half press on the trigger button because the cameras has faster response time, more control over the focus and encourages better composition.

10. What does this symbol mean?
it means no flash.
 When would you use this?
there are many cases where you may not want flash. NAtural light can sometimes be more dramatic than flash light.

11.What does this symbol mean?
it means that the camera will automatically fire is the camera thinks more light is needed
When would you use this?

12. What happens to your photo if there is too much light?
it there is too much light the picture will be washed out

13. What happens to your photo if there is not enough light?

if there is not enough light the picture will be took light.

14. What is a “stop.”
the term stop is used to represent a relative change in light
15. How many stops brighter is the new planet if there are two sons instead of one?
the new planet will be 1 stop brighter.

16. How many stops brighter is the new planet if there are four sons instead of two?

the new planet is 4 stop brighter.

17. What affect does a longer shutter speed of have?
a longer shutter lets more light in

18. What affect does a shorter shutter speed have?
a shorter shutter lets less light in

19. What does the aperture control?

the aperture controls the size of the opening

20. When adjusting the aperture, how can you increase the amount of light?
when the opening is larger you are letting more light in.
